lumière de monde
Light of the world
You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes let me see
Beauty that made
This heart adores You
Hope of a life spent with You
So here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You're my God
And You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
King of all days
Oh so highly exalted
Glorious in heaven above
Humbly You came
To the earth You created
All for love's sake became poor
And I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
And I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross

The Intrepid Campers
August 27 - 29, 2004

One dark night late in August, a somewhat
dilapidated minivan pulled into the provincial
park. At the entrance to the campground it halted and was approached cautiously by a
young couple, with
papers in hand. Words were briefly exchanged before they pulled forward to the booth and were waved through. The vehicle proceeded down the narrow
gravel road at a rapid clip, pulling into the
last available campsite, #101 "E". Two of the party took a trip down to "F" with a small
glittery case in hand. After a lengthy absence they returned. They didn’t seem to be very experienced campers. In the
darkness, strange clanking and clattering noises could be heard, echoing throughout the
campground. As the camp settled into silence both a
fire and a
lantern began to
glow. All of the occupants of the
minivan congregated around the table. Incoherent murmurs issued from the gathering, slowly escalating into heated debate. The words "watch" and "find", could be deciphered. Gradually the noise died down and
all was silence.
In the morning, evidences of midnight revels were scattered around
campsite 101. A half empty
pickle-jar on the table where the mysterious characters had held their meeting. A battered
matchbox lay open next to a bottle of bug spray. Marshmallows littered the area and a wadded-up newspaper implied violent action. Beside the table lay an
axe.
Suddenly the now-suspect campers emerged from the
tent and soon the smell of frying
pork and eggs drifted on the breeze. After a substantial breakfast (unlike that of the campers in the next site, who consumed
cold Superstore muffins) the fire was doused and the group piled into the
minivan and departed from the
park. They were absent most of the day. When they returned in the afternoon, clad in
different garments, they immediately left again, this time on foot. The last time they returned, they were soaking wet. At the table, two of the party appeared to be wrapping
packages in tinfoil, which they later tossed into the
roaring fire.
An altercation seemed to erupt inside the
tent. Triumphantly a figure burst out of the tent holding
aloft a glittering
silver watch. It was the
fifth member of the party! Close on his heels trod two
wrathful females. Emily brandished a bicycle
pump in the air. Fiona took a leap toward him. Her long
French-manicured nails slashed his face. At the racket, Alison and Laura turned from their several duties. Alison snatched up the wiener forks from the table. She turned and menacingly
glared at him, waving the
forks, warning, "Take another step and you will be spitted!" Suddenly Emily’s pump whistled through the air, making severe contact with the
back of his head. As he crumpled to the
ground next to the
woodpile, Laura loomed above him with the axe. The sun glinted off the edge of the axe as she raised it above her head. "Put it down!" Fiona shrieked. The axe paused
midair. Emily approached rapidly with a
bright yellow-hued container marked (in what was supposed to be indelible ink) "oil". When it became obvious that she intended to apply its contents to
his wounds, he rolled over and groaned in protest, "Shred it!" (as he was convinced it was
processed mustard!). Emily took great umbrage. He reached up and seized a flashlight from the stack on the table, beaning Alison on her left middle
toe. Then he tripped Laura so she plunged headlong into a nearby
rosebush. As Emily stared aghast, he swung the flashlight and the batteries tumbled out,
pummeling Fiona on the left knee. Emily stumbled backwards over the
woodpile, striking her heel on the offensively located
curb. All of the girls recovered quickly and leaped on him with any weapon that came to hand. An army of seven
cameras and five flashlights
rushed to their aid.
The battle was long and arduous, but the victim
finally left.
This is a un faithful narrative of our weekend camping excursion.

Hey all!
Long time no post eh?! yoiks i'm sorry. My life has thrown me many a curve ball of late and I am finding it increasingly difficult to continue juggling everything...
Princess has been working at Camp Kannawin down at Sylvan Lake since the end of June. This past week was the last week of camp, and the camp found themselves in need of another couple senior counselers (well, the boys they managed to put in one cabin, but they really did need another female, heh). Late Friday night my sister asked me if i would do it, as i was the only person they could think of with the appropriate credentials... and by saturday afternoon I had the time off both my regular jobs and it was confirmed i was going! *sigh* it was a whirlwind... When I got to the camp I was still getting my mind around the fact that I was actually there... *chuckles*
I (SunnyD) was put in Cabin 6 with Megan (aka Smiley), so it was Sunny & Smiley's Cabin 6... We had a fun mix of girls, 7 in all. Kathryn, Leesa, Heather, Jillian, Jessica, Jess, Moriah... Fun Bunch. I can't wait for some of those pictures, girls! ;-)
Canoeing was a major part of my schedule, heh, and though I was not really in the mood for it, once I got going I really enjoyed it! I got a mild sunburn that has already disapeared, and got to swim with my contacts in for the first time... lol there's nothing quite like getting lake water in your eye while wearing contacts! *ehhh*....perhaps when my pix are developed I'll post more....
My cabin is the proud winner of the cleanest cabin! Normally people are graded with 5 smileys being top dog, but the boys got 6 one day and my girls desperately wanted 7 and they got em! Whahahahahaha... so good! Congrats eh! :-D
There's no way I can tell all here and now... I've gotta go hit the hay, but I figured it was high time to post something!!! heh heh :-) (i mean when people are wondering where you are and what in the world happened to you, that is just SAD! *chuckles*)
So yes... more L8R..... :-)

I am posting another one of my totally useless and rambling postings because:
A)
I must prove that I'm still alive. Yes, I am still lurking around blogdom, in the shadows of other bloggers comment systems and photo-blogging the odd pic... "SunnyD" is still me and i am quite well, thnx.... ;-) *snickers*
B)
Yup, I still know how to type something ridiculously unimportant and post it on a blog.... haha... :-}
C)
It was proven to me -finally!- that more than four or five people bother to look at my blog -even though practically nobody comments, hehe.... so I felt somewhat guilty for not posting something new to make it seem a little more worth the effort all that clicking you people have to do to get here.... *sigh* ;-) lmho.... :-D
D)
I promised Emily that I would not slip into soley blogging the way-to-easy way off blogging ... my beloved photo-blogging ... *chuckles* Despite the pleasure of pictures on blogs, I was told verbiage must not be forgot! :-) So Emily, I have now posted some text for you to read... and I will post some pictures as well.... hopefully this is satisfactory, hehe ;-)
E)
My life has been such a whirlwind the past couple months, my brain is flooded with ideas for posts, but I have not had the time to think em out logically and make em look somewhat legible *chuckles*. When my brain/life becomes flooded, one of two things tends to happen: I pull the plug and you get a swampful of information and emotion that is much more than you were really wanting, or I just sit back and kinda watch and wait for things to dry out.... I think the past month has been the drying out stage.... but i am posting this before things get too too hard... ;-) *chuckles*
ok ok enough enough enough already.... :-D More another time, I promise... :-)
