At lunchtime today Erynn somehow convinced me to try out his skateboard. I resisted at first, informing him of the fact that I had not been on a skateboard since I was seven years old. Not to mention I was not dressed for playing around with an old board on a paved parking lot with puddles and residual sand from previous icy days...
Anyone who truly knows me will tell you I love outdoors. When I was little I was only inside when I had to be. Now, for the most part I love my job, but when the sun is shining, it feels like spring, and I am given the oportunity to have some physical entertainment during lunch break away from the desk... man! how could I refuse. X-D
I tried the basics the way Erynn was telling me to, but it felt so wrong! I was wearing my big brown slides (totally the wrong footwear to be skateboarding in) and I promtly landed on the ashphalt on an awkward angle, snaging my newish sweater's elbow and getting it a titch grimy. oops. heh. how very foolish of me, eh? Erynn felt bad, but he told me now that i was already dirty, I might as well finish my "lesson". *chuckles* He traded shoes with me, so I could actually feel the board. What a difference! wow. (not to mention how hilarious it was to see him dare walking around in my shoes LMHO!!!!!!) The shoes made a difference, but I still felt off. I finally decided to switch the position of my feet, putting my left foot first instead of my right. Erynn sed there's two ways to board. Normal and Goofy. Not Lefty and Righty, but Normal an Goofy... and I was obviously a Goofy. *sheesh* i knew i was insane... :-( LOL After switching feet, I was more comfortable and actually dared to try to "manual" (sorta like poppin wheelies on a BMX or mountain bike) and "ollie" (where you hop or flip the board as you jump....) kinda scary. I have a fair ways to fall, you know... :-s :-D
It was a lot of fun, but I still feel stupid about the shirt. hmmm... not like it's destroyed or anything, but still.... :-s

Okay, so maybe I'm being obsessed.... but Steve took me to see the film version of "The Phantom of The Opera" for Valentine's Day.... (well, the weekend before, as he was here then, not on the 14th...) I absolutely adored this movie. :-D I have grown up hearing the music, and my mother talking about it (she went with her brother and sister-in-law to see the real thing in Calgary years ago,when I was really little...) and I have always wanted to see it. Mom was actually the one who told me that it had been made into a movie; she had seen an ad, and was so hyped about it! I didn't think I'd ever get to go to the theater to see it, so when my sweetheart suprised me, I was pretty excited. Not only was the film special, but it was my first Valentines gift with *cough* romantic sentiment. *blush* (Still feels astonishing that I'm courting my best friend!!!! :-O X-D I'm ever-so glad I didn't turn him down last year; love truly grows... Wow. God's ways will never cease to amaze me. :-D ) Steve obviously knows me really well, and sure how to make me smile! :-D :-) Gifts that are not run-of-the-mill and show that thought/care was given are my fave... :-)
This movie was a perfect gift for me.... along with some chocolate!! (but Steven already knew that. *chuckles* )
*cough*
please forgive any hint of twitterpation in the previous rattle... X-D I couldn't help it. :-o
Back to the reason for this post:
I found some interesting links regarding the film, and I'm gonna post em for two reasons:
a) so I don't lose them X-D
b) to share in case any of you are interested as well. :-)

Andrew Lloyd WebberTitle: The Music Of The Night (The Phantom Of The Opera)
Phantom)
Night time sharpens
heightens each sensation...
Darkness wakes
and stirs imagination
Silently the senses
abandon their defences
Helpless to resist
the notes I write
For I compose
the music of the night...
Slowly, gently
night unfurls its splendour.
Grasp it, sense it -
tremulous and tender
Hearing is believing
music is deceiving
Hard as lightning
soft as candlelight
dare you trust the music of the night...
Close your eyes for your eyes will only tell the truth
And the truth
isn't what you want to see.
In the dark
it is easy to pretend
that the truth is what it ought to be.
Softly, deftly music shall caress you...
Hear it, feel it
secretly possess you...
Open up your mind let your fantasies unwind
in this darkness which
you know you cannot fight -
the darkness of the music of the night...
Close your eyes
start a journey through a
strange new world!
Leave all thoughts
of the world
you knew before!
Close your eyes
and let music set you free...
Only then
can you belong to me...
Floating, falling
sweet intoxication!
Touch me, trust me
savour each sensation...
Let the dream
begin
let your darker side
give in
to the power of
the music that I write -
the power of the music of the night...
You alone
can make my song take flight -
help me make
the music of the night...
Come we must return -
those two fools
who run my theatre
will be missing you

Andrew Lloyd WebberTitle: All i ask of you from the phanton of the opera
ALL I ASK OF YOU
No more talk of darkness,
forget these wide-eyed fears;
I'm here, nothing can harm you,
my words will warm and calm you.
Let me be your freedom,
let daylight dry your tears;
I'm here, with you, beside you,
to guard you and to guide you.
Say you'll love me every waking moment;
turn my head with talk of summertime.
Say you need me with you now and always;
promise me that all you say is true,
that's all I ask of you.
Let me be your shelter,
let me be your light;
you're safe, no one will find you,
your fears are far behind you.
All I want is freedom,
a world with no more night;
and you, always beside me,
to hold me and to hide me.
Then say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime;
let me lead you from your solitude.
Say you need me with you, here beside you,
anywhere you go, let me go too, that's all I ask of you.
Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime.
Say the word and I will follow you. Share each day with me,
each night, each morning.
Say you love me ... You know I do.
Love me, that's all I ask of you ...
Love me, that's all I ask of you
