lumière de monde
Light of the world
You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes let me see
Beauty that made
This heart adores You
Hope of a life spent with You
So here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that You're my God
And You're altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
King of all days
Oh so highly exalted
Glorious in heaven above
Humbly You came
To the earth You created
All for love's sake became poor
And I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
And I'll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross

Methinks I'm rather eclectic, a puzzle. I can't describe myself. My personality is broad, what some have called "A Hub"... :-) *chuckles*
This is a fab quote:
"My clothes keep my various selves buttoned up together, and enable all these otherwise irreconcilable aggregates of psychological phenomena to pass thenselves off as one person."

What was I doing 10 years ago: ten years ago i was ten years old, glad that i was a two-digited even number. (i have an obsession with even numbers...) excited about decimals and barbie dolls. Loved Crayola markers and pencil crayons, drew all the time, trying to develop a cartoon strip/ book/ movie (yes, i have high aspirations...). Hated blue jeans and insisted on wearing sweat pants and flannel PJs just cuz they were comfy. 5 years ago: Five years ago it was July 2000..... I was probably writing Linda letters while she was away in Boston, reminiscing of our hilariously fun bonfires and time-capsule burrial and dig. Enjoying my cargo pants, big glasses and slicked back ponytail, refusing to heed fashion advice from my mother, who really knew what she was talking about, but i stubbornly went on being a tomboy. oh and enjoyed the even-ness of the year 2000.... three zeros, yes, but add three zeros to the two, and you still have even digit!! *woot* 1 year ago: hmmmm a year ago i cut my past-the-rear-length hair, bought contacts, and went for my first airplane trip. My best friend told me he liked me as more than a friend, and after we started courting and i realized that I liked him that way too. *chuckle* I went down to camp for a week to help out, and wore beaded flip-flops with rainbow toe-socks, basketball shorts, and a tank top with a sun silk-screened on the front and yes, won the greatest respect from all the campers and staff... *boooyahh* ;-) Yesterday: um.... this keeps changing as i started this thing many days ago, and each tiem i start, i never finish, but save to drafts, so i guess if i post this today i will say... well yeasterday was tuesday, and i worked, as usual, at the shop... Missed Laura greatly..... didn't get to talk to her til later in the evening.... went to a PPL meeting, interesting..... yes i am a hog for brain food.... i liek to just KNOW stuff.... 5 Snacks I enjoy: Carrots, Oreos, Miss Vickies Chips, Corn Chips, CHOCOLATE..... i LOVE FOOD!!! how can i possibly pick only five.... *sigh* 5 songs I know all the words to: Thy Word, As The Deer, Amazing Grace, Beautiful, Cast All Your Cares 5 Things I would do with a $100 million: Tackle my parent's house and yard, Pay for my sister's university education, travel the whole world over - a couple times, jsut to make sure i have a photo of every possible wonder and experience.... , do my part in giving all people clean water, and havea good cushion in the bank in case of emergency..... :-s (yes, i'm a worry-wart) 5 Locations I would like to run away to: Scotland/Ireland, the Rockie Mountains in BC, a secret place, a sunny yellow/purple/green field with rolling hills and a fabulous cloud-watching spot.... , into Steve's arms (yes, i want a big hug!!!) .... *blush*
5 Bad habits I have: Staying up later than i should, being overly sentimental, forgeting that not everyone has proper brittish mannerisims, low self-confidence and self-deprication, over-eating ... :-O
5 Things I like doing: Shutterbug snapping (ie: over-using cameras for what little knowledge i have of them, dropping the film at the developers and thus creating photographs for great memories!!!!!), Playing Basketball (preferably with people who actually like it, are good, and can teach me something, and a REAL game with REAL rules, with REAL B.Ball Shorts... LOL), Sketching (no, i do not enjoy painting. it stresses me out.... i guess cuz i'm always trying to be next to perfect and its not possible....),
Spending time with my family and friends and Steven!!!
Organizing / improving things....5 TV shows I like: I dont really watch T.V. cuz i don't have time. I used to watch Road to Avonlea whenever possible, and sometimes a movie on the telly, but other than that, i don't really watch TV... :-} but ok, here's a few i don't mind: Road to Avonlea, Touched by an Angel, 7th Heaven, Canada: A People's History (yes, it's more of a documentory, but i love it!!!) and i guess Mr. Dress Up, Fred Penner and Babar had an impact on me when i was little.... :-D5 Biggest joys of the moment: Fiona is going to be home all next week!!!! I am going to go to GP this weekend with Emily and Julie!!! I am going to see Steve again day after tomorrow!!!! The sun is shining! I re-organized my closet, so everything is back where it belongs, color-sorted and all that jazz! STEVE LOVES ME!!!! :-D X-D5 Favorite toys: Barbie dolls.... well, actually Skipper. I love my Adobe Suite... the old one, but still, its great!!!!! :-D My USB Key (or alissa calls it: nerd stick), My wardrobe- including shoes, Laura is like a living Teen Skipper Doll, so i guess when i help her create outfits, she's a toy, too... *chortle* (sorry laura) X-D o and i guess MSN Messenger, Trillian etc all are toys ,too.... :-D heh5 next victims: Bethany, Rachel Unger, Alex, Jake, Moriah

This past weekend was the Canada Day long weekend as well as the weekend before Steve's birthday. Friday was Canada Day, and Steve and I had planned to go to Ikea and start my registry there before spending the evening with a variety of friends and going into Edmonton to see the waterfall and fireworks. Laura and Steve's Uncle Jack and Aunt Jennie stopped by in the moring to pick up the U-Haul they had parked at our place while they visited Neerlandia. Some issues with the electricals caused them to wait until just before lunch before they could get on thier way! We were able to visit wit them while the mechanic (who turned out to be a rather pierced young woman) took her time arriving, so as much as it ws not the plan, it was alright in my opinion... :-)
I invited Henry to come along to Ikea because I'd been suprised he'd never been there. He was happy to drive us all in his new wheels... ooooohlala!! wut luvliness. :-D We watched some of the Young Life DVD --- hilarious! Then, as we were about to leave for Ikea and lunch, a call from another U-haul mechanic was recieved, aparently in reply to a help call from the yellowhead casino. We decided to take the yellowhead in, and see if we could stop by and see how they were doing. Sure enough, we spotted the moving-van parked along side of the road about a block away from the casino. They used Steve's cell phone, and we waited a while for the return call, then finally left for our Ikea destination.
Despite the 60% chance of rain warning the weather people had declared, the sun beat down with glee. For precaution, we packed umbrellas into the SUV, and left them there while we shopped. We enjoyed the 99 cent pasta deal and free "Canada's Birthday Cake" for lunch, then Steve and I wandered around and got our registry started. This took a while as it is not electronic like the one we did at the Bay. While we scribbled and walked, rain began to pummel the metal roof of Ikea's large blue body. No troubles filling those wet moments indoors. I found an ADORABLE SPOKA!! Only blue was left, but hat's ok by me. ;-D Steve spoiled me and bought it! *WHAHOO* :-D Henry treated us all to frozen yoghurt cones... mmmmmmmm perfect ending to an Ikea experience :-) (thanx henners!!!)
Following the Great Ikea Experience, we picked up Alyson (the life of the party) and had an utter blast driving all the way to the Legislature grounds, where we decided to stake our spot for the fireworks display. WE picnic-ed our supper and met up with my friend Linda and her Boyfriend Matt, Mindy and her Fiance Travis, Coralyn, Stephanie, Dave, and several other people i know. Things were very casual, but when the minutes began to tick over before the firewors went off, peopel began to crowd in all around us, tramping on our blankets and bags, blocking our view etc etc.... that got to be a bit much, and very frustarting, as we had been there for a good couple of hours! :-( *sigh* I guess people just don't have common decency anymore. *phooey phooey* :-p Overall, though, I enjoyed myself muchly, having never seen a real display of fireworks, I was quite thrilled. Too bad all those idiots put a damper on it all... *sheesh*...
Saturday we all slept in except Laura, who had to go to work. Steve and I went to WEM (West Edmonton Mall) at lunch time. We ate lunch, then hit the Bay to add a few things to our registry there. Got a couple kitchen knives for a great deal, then we browsed our way out into the Mall. We worked out way to the completely opposite side of the mall to "Wild West" shooting range, where I had promised Steve we'd go for his birthday. It's interesting to see all the different guns, and was it ever interesting learning how to shoot one... I'm not good at all, and my sensitive nerves cause me to jump everytime someone fires. With the first round I was just trying to get comfortable, so i didn't even aim at the target, but the little pictures on the sides. Of course I was not doing anything right and my contacts were blurring up under the "protective eye-wear".... All the bullets in the second mag made it to the target, but not one was perfect. It was definately an adventure for me. Steve is so much fun! :-D
After our WEM trek we buzzed home and trew some things in the truck and toodled up to Neerlandia to Hofstede's. Supper was enjoyed around the bonfire and later on us young people went to Freedom to walk along the river. Unfortunately, the water was swollen up, and the sandy bars were deep under the current. We hiked through the bush, then had a snack on the bridge. With good company, one can find great pleasure in the little things in life. :-D
On Sunday we wished Steve a HAPPY 24th BIRTHDAY! As much as he claims to not like being the centre of attention, I think he enjoyed it all. :-D *chuckle* After Church and more visiting, we headed out so Steve wouldn't be too late getting home to GP (that is the idea, anyway).
After bidding farewell, and Steve drove off in a cloud of gravel dust, I had rush over to an ORC young people/young adults gathering at my friend Amanda's cousin's place (only one RR over). Enjoyable, though a lot of interrogation as to my wedding plans... X-D *sigh* Food was good, but then I'm almost always eating... :-D After hanging out for a good while, I had to leave. I was just too tired to stay later and play Capture the Flag and Mission Impossible. Home I went, and sleepily went up to my bed.
Wahoo. What a weekend.... keeping busy is good fun, but it sure is tiring, too. :-}
i guess i should jsut post, cuz i'm going to go on and on and on and on...... etc otherwise.......
LOL
